Quiet village on the Ziller with a bathing lake and the Zillertalbahn
Zillertal
Village at the gateway to the upper Zillertal, close to Mayrhofen
Ramsau im Zillertal lies at about 604 m in the Schwaz district and has a little over 1,700 residents. The village is some 4 km from Mayrhofen, which makes it a quieter alternative for anyone who wants to be close to the big ski area.
The best-known landmark in the village is the Ramsauer Kirchl, a historic church in the middle of the village. The Zillertalbahn, the narrow-gauge railway that is more than a hundred years old, runs through the valley and is an attraction in itself for many children. The Alte Mühle of the 'Wurzenmax', which displays a collection of minerals and crystals, is also mentioned as a sight; check beforehand whether and when it can be visited.
In summer there are many walking, cycling and climbing routes in the area, and the road towards the Gerlos Pass is popular. In winter you can ski in Mayrhofen, and the valley also suits winter walking and snowshoeing. From Niederau, Ramsau is a longer day trip that combines well with Mayrhofen.

About 55 minutes by car from Niederau, via Wörgl and the A12 (Zillertal exit), then up the valley towards Mayrhofen.
Always check times, prices and opening dates with the provider beforehand; they can change.
About 4 km, so you can easily combine both places in one day trip.
The Zillertalbahn runs through the valley; check the current timetable beforehand. From Niederau the car is the simplest option.
