Schlitters
Quiet village on the Ziller with a bathing lake and the Zillertalbahn
Zillertal
Sunny village in the lower Zillertal, nicknamed the 'Merano of the Zillertal'
Bruck am Ziller lies at about 579 m in the lower part of the Zillertal and has roughly a thousand residents. The village is known for its many hours of sunshine, which is why it is sometimes called the 'Merano of the Zillertal'.
It is a quiet place without big attractions, but with a good location. The church of St Leonhard is the best-known sight in the village. The Zillertal cycle path starts in nearby Strass and runs about 30 km through the valley to Mayrhofen; it is mostly flat and so manageable with children. Walkers will find circular routes nearby, for example via Schlitters and Strass, and experienced mountain hikers can set out on higher tours from the valley floor.
In winter several ski areas are within reach, including Spieljoch, Hochfügen and the Zillertal Arena. For families staying in Niederau, Bruck is mainly interesting as part of a day in the Zillertal: a stop at the church, a stretch of cycling or walking, and then on further up the valley.

About 45 minutes by car from Niederau, via Wörgl and the A12 (Zillertal exit), then the road along the Ziller.
Always check times, prices and opening dates with the provider beforehand; they can change.
The village gets many hours of sunshine and a mild climate for the valley, which is where the nickname comes from.
