The Tyrolean Folk Theatre Festival takes place every summer in Telfs, in the Inn Valley west of Innsbruck. It was founded in 1981 and focuses on folk theatre, mixing professional actors with local amateurs and using special venues.
Since 2023 the Birkenberg has been a venue, with a foyer by the Mariahilf Chapel. There are around 60 performances in total each year. For English or Dutch-speaking families language is a hurdle: plays are in German, sometimes in dialect. It suits teenagers and adults with some knowledge of German best.
