St. Ulrich am Pillersee

Village on the emerald Pillersee, for walking, swimming and winter fun

St. Ulrich am Pillersee lies at roughly 835 m in the heart of the Pillerseetal, right on the Pillersee. The Loferer Steinberge and the Buchensteinwand form the backdrop, a fine setting for a relaxed day out.

The lake is the centre of village life. Its shores offer a playground, Kneipp facilities, boat hire, stand-up paddling and fishing, and in warm weather you can swim there. The water does not get very warm in summer, so a short dip is the realistic option. Thanks to its lakeside position and the many short routes, the village also suits anyone who does not want to walk far or who travels with young children.

Trails around the lake suit every level, from an easy stroll to a mountain hike in the Loferer Steinberge. In winter you can cross-country ski and enjoy winter walks, and the Buchensteinwand and Steinplatte ski areas are a short drive away. The parish church, built in the late fifteenth century, is worth a look. If you want a longer day, you could combine the village with a visit to Fieberbrunn or Waidring, which both lie in the same valley.
