Village at the foot of the Steinplatte with Triassic Park and a ski area
Waidring lies at roughly 780 m at the foot of the Loferer Steinberge and the Steinplatte, on the road towards Lofer and the Salzburg region. It is one of the northern villages of the Pillerseetal and a pleasant destination for a day trip.
The Steinplatte (1,869 m) is the local mountain. A toll road leads up, and in summer the cable car takes you to the Triassic Park, where children learn about the prehistoric Tethys sea and can see the highest sandy beach in the Alps. Panoramic walks and mountain huts round off the day. The trip is a pleasant change from a day in the Wildschönau, as you see a different landscape with steep limestone walls.
In winter the Steinplatte is a ski area with modern lifts and broad slopes, suited to families and relaxed skiers. There are winter walking routes too. In the village itself stands the eighteenth-century parish church, and a bike ride or hike leads to the pilgrimage church of Maria Kirchental. Check the operating times of the cable car and the toll beforehand, as they differ by season.

About 60 minutes by car from Niederau, roughly via Wörgl, St. Johann in Tirol and the B178 towards Lofer. Check the current route before setting off.
Always check times, prices and opening dates with the provider beforehand; they can change.
