Reith bei Kitzbühel lies at roughly 762 m in the Kitzbühel Alps, about five kilometres from Kitzbühel. The village is quieter than its famous neighbour and has kept much of its traditional character.
The best-known outing is the Schwarzsee, regarded as one of the warmest moorland lakes in Tyrol, reaching around 25 degrees in summer. The Gieringer Weiher and Vogelsberger Weiher are also swimming spots. Together they lie in the Bichlach walking and cycling area. Because the village is so close to Kitzbühel, you can combine a visit with a stroll through the town or an afternoon by the lake.
The surroundings invite hiking and cycling, and a short walk leads to the Schleierwasserfall waterfall. In winter there are guided winter walks and a sledging run on the Gaisberg, popular with families. Kitzbühel itself is about ten minutes away by car. It is a good choice if you want a calm day without a long drive. Bring a towel and sun cream, and keep an eye on the weather forecast.
