Reith im Alpbachtal lies at about 637 m on a broad terrace at the entrance of the Alpbachtal. The municipality has some 2,800 inhabitants and is popular with families as compact, well equipped and still close to nature.
In the village centre is the Reither See, a small swimming lake of about 1.45 ha. The bathing area has a large sunbathing lawn, a children's play area and a paddling pool; on warm days the water reaches about 23 degrees. From the village, the Reitherkogelbahn takes you up to about 1,200 m, where a pushchair-friendly circular walk through the Juppi Zauberwald starts, with play stations and viewing platforms.
There is some culture as well: the Kropfsberg castle ruins and the grounds of Schloss Matzen, which walkers can visit. In winter Reith belongs to Ski Juwel Alpbachtal Wildschönau. Combine it with Brixlegg, Rattenberg or Alpbach; check opening times of the pool and cable car beforehand. This makes Reith a relaxed day out with children, where swimming and walking combine easily.
