A quiet Kaiser village with a Baroque church, bathing lake and the Astberg

Going am Wilden Kaiser lies at about 773 m at the foot of the Kaiser mountains, in the Sölllandl in the Kitzbühel district. The municipality has around 2,000 residents and is calmer than its neighbours Söll and Ellmau.

The village is known for its Baroque parish church, which holds a Madonna from 1480, among other treasures. In summer there is the Goinger bathing lake, the Moor & more bog area, the Pony Alm on the Astberg and the Astbergsee, where the Kaiser range is mirrored in the water. The tourist season runs roughly from May to November.

In winter Going belongs to the SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser-Brixental and is regarded as its eastern, snow-rich part. There are also cross-country trails, toboggan runs, winter walking paths and an ice rink. A good target for families from Niederau who want a calm day in the Kaiser area. The village is compact and easy with children; combine it with a walk to the Astbergsee or a visit to Ellmau. Check current opening times beforehand.
