St. Johann in Tirol town centre

A baroque market town with painted facades and a Friday market

St. Johann in Tirol is a baroque market town at the foot of the Kitzbüheler Horn and the Wilder Kaiser. The centre has houses with Lüftlmalerei, painted facades, such as the Schellhornhaus and the Schwarzinger-Haus. The Antoniuskapelle, with a fresco by Josef Schöpf in its dome, is also worth a look. You will also find shops, cafés and restaurants, and a museum on the town's history.

From roughly mid-March to November a weekly market is held on the main square every Friday, with regional products and handicrafts. A visit takes about an hour and a half; it combines well with Kitzbühel or the Kitzbüheler Horn. There is also a signed village circuit.
