Kufstein Fortress

A fortress above the Inn with the Heldenorgel played daily

Kufstein Fortress rises above the town and the Inn and is one of the best-known sights of the Kufsteinerland. The fortress is first mentioned in 1205. From the walls you look out over the town, the river and the mountains, and there are exhibitions on the history of the complex.

The Heldenorgel is famous: the world's largest free-standing organ, with 4,948 pipes. It plays daily at noon, and in July and August also at 6 pm; the concert lasts about 10 to 15 minutes and can be heard far around. You can walk up or take the Kaiser Maximilian panoramic lift, which is handy with young children.
