Village stroll in Hopfgarten

A market village at the foot of the Hohe Salve

Hopfgarten im Brixental is a market village at the foot of the Hohe Salve, with narrow, partly cobbled lanes in the old centre. It is a pleasant corner of the Brixental for a short walk past houses, church and small shops, without the bustle of a large ski resort.

A village trail runs from the valley past farmhouses and huts to the mountain village of Kelchsau, a quiet side valley. The Bauernladl sells regional products such as bacon, cheese, alpine butter, jam, honey and handicrafts, and is open on Fridays. In summer the lifts run to the summit of the Hohe Salve (about 1,830 m), and there is the Salvenaland, a leisure park with a bathing lake and mini golf. Check current times with the tourist office beforehand.
