Old town walk in Hall in Tirol

A well-preserved medieval old town on the Inn

For centuries Hall in Tirol was a wealthy town thanks to salt and later the mint, and it received town rights in 1303. Much of that survives: the old centre is arranged around the Oberer Stadtplatz, with the roughly 700-year-old town hall, the parish church of St Nicholas, narrow streets and small shops. It is quieter than nearby Innsbruck.

A walk through the old town takes about an hour and a half, longer if you go inside anywhere. You can combine it with Hasegg Castle and the mint museum above the town. There are terraces and cafés on the way, so the walk easily stretches into half a day.
