Village walk in Ellmau

A village at the foot of the Wilder Kaiser

Ellmau lies right at the foot of the Wilder Kaiser, the limestone range that gives the village its characteristic skyline. A well-known route is the Ellmauer Dorfrunde, which passes the parish church of St Michael, a plain Baroque hall church built in 1740-1746.

A walk through the village and the surrounding meadows takes about an hour. With children, a visit to Ellmi’s Zauberwelt at the top station of the Hartkaiserbahn is a good addition, with play areas, an enchanted forest and water play. That makes Ellmau a simple destination for half a day, with plenty of room to wander and look at the rock faces.
