Village stroll in Brixen im Thale

A quiet Brixental village with a large parish church and the Brixner Stadl

Brixen im Thale lies in the Brixental, about 11 km west of Kitzbühel. In the centre stands the large parish church of Mariä Himmelfahrt, consecrated in 1812 and one of the largest churches in the Tyrolean lowlands, with a richly stuccoed high altar and an ornate organ.

The church and the compact village can be seen in about an hour. Another sight is the Brixner Stadl, a 19th-century wooden barn now used as a cultural venue for concerts and exhibitions. It is a pleasant stop when you are driving through the Brixental anyway.
