Längenfeld

Day trip to the Ötztal with thermal spa, suspension bridge and open-air museum

Längenfeld is a village in the Ötztal in the Austrian state of Tyrol, a side valley of the Inn valley that rises from roughly 820 to 3,000 m. It is best known as a spa village: warm spring water has been rising from the ground here since the sixteenth century.

The best-known address is the Aqua Dome, a wellness complex with indoor and outdoor pools and a sauna area. The surroundings also suit active families, with the Längenfeld suspension bridge, the Jubiläums-Klettersteig with a family-friendly route, and the Ötztal open-air heritage museum in Lehn, a preserved farmstead showing life on the land in the past.

From Niederau, Längenfeld is a long but manageable day trip. It suits families with children who enjoy water, walking or a relaxed spa day. Plan an early start so you have enough time on site. If you want to see more, continue up the valley to the Stuibenfall near Umhausen, the highest waterfall in Tyrol. Tip: bring swimwear and a jacket, as the weather in the valley can change quickly, and check the spa's current opening times and prices before you leave. With small children it is wise to keep walks short.
