Breitenbach am Inn lies at about 510 m on the sunny north side of the Inn valley, between Kufstein and Schwaz, surrounded by rolling hills. The municipality has nearly 3,500 residents and, at around 38 km², is fairly extensive. It is a quiet village without big tourist crowds, a short drive from Niederau.
On the western edge of the municipality lies the idyllic Berglsteinersee. Walkers can climb the Blessenberg (1,743 m) for a fine view over the Inn valley. There are also the parish church of St Peter and several listed chapels, such as the Mariahilf chapel, the Kämpfer chapel, the Antonius chapel and the Firstwald chapel.
In winter there are cross-country trails near Schönau-Angerberg and a family-friendly ski area in the Alpbachtal Wildschönau region. In December a Perchtenlauf takes place, an old folk tradition with costumes and masks. Breitenbach suits families who want a quiet outing with a lake, a walk and local tradition.
