Lake Walchsee in the Kaiserwinkl covers about 95 hectares, making it one of Tyrol's larger lakes, and is regarded as one of the warmest bathing lakes; in summer the water can reach about 24 degrees. At its deepest point the lake is just over 21 metres deep. That makes it a pleasant place for a first go at stand-up paddling: falling in is no problem.
By the lake is the Karl2o water sports centre, where SUP boards, electric boats and pedal boats, among other things, can be hired. On the east shore there is also a beach bar that hires out SUP boards and boats. While paddling you see the mountains around the lake. It lies about 45 minutes by car from Niederau, so it fits well into a day that also includes a swim at the beach.
