A day of water, mountains and sky between Tyrol and Bavaria
The Kaiserwinkl is a quiet corner of Tyrol on the German border, including Kössen and Walchsee. There is plenty for a day out: hiking and mountain biking, swimming in Lake Walchsee (summer water temperatures of about 20 to 24 degrees) or in the Erlebnis-Waldschwimmbad in Kössen, and rafting on the Tiroler Ache.
Above Kössen rises the Unterberghorn, a well-known paragliding spot. For families there is also the Zahmer Kaiser family adventure park with a summer toboggan run, playgrounds and a petting zoo, among other things. So you can pick an active day or a calm one.
Place: Kössen
Kössen is about 40 minutes by car from Niederau, heading towards Kufstein and the Kaiserwinkl. Plan the route in advance and allow extra time at weekends.
