Views over the Wildschönau from the top station

The Schatzbergbahn in Auffach is the gondola to the Schatzberg ski area, part of Ski Juwel Alpbachtal Wildschönau. The modern gondola takes skiers from the valley to the top in roughly a quarter of an hour; the top station is at just over 1,770 metres. In winter 2025/26 it ran daily from about 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.

If you do not ski, it is best to ask beforehand whether a pedestrian ticket exists and which station you may ride to. Up there you have views over the valley and peaks, and mountain restaurants for a hot drink. It is clearly colder at the top than in Niederau.
