Hiking at the Wilder Kaiser

Family-friendly routes beneath the rock walls of the Kaisergebirge

The Wilder Kaiser, or Kaisergebirge, is one of Tyrol's best-known limestone massifs. Around Ellmau, Going and Scheffau a wide network of marked hiking routes runs across meadows and through forest, with the steep rock walls right above you. The region holds the European hiking quality seal.

For families there are easy routes, such as the circuit around the Hintersteiner See (about 5 km, 1.5 to 2 hours) and the Bergdoktor round between Ellmau and Going (about 11 km, little ascent). In summer there are also guided walks and family activities, some free with the guest card. Ask the tourist office for a map and current routes.
