Kragenjoch round with Achentalalm from Oberau

An easy family walk along a forest road to an alm

From Oberau village the Kragenjoch round starts, an easy walk that many families choose. The route is roughly 6.8 km long, takes about 2.8 hours and, with around 500 metres of climbing, follows a comfortable forest road for most of the way to the Achentalalm, where you can rest.

The alm is known for simple dishes: kaiserschmarrn every day from June to September, and Wildschönau noodles on Wednesdays. In early summer the Kragenjoch is also special for its mountain flowers. Pick up a walking map at the tourist office and check the weather and the alm's opening days beforehand.
