Panorama peak with a pilgrimage chapel above the Brixental
The Hohe Salve (1,829 m) is known as one of Tyrol's best viewpoints. From Hopfgarten im Brixental the Salvenbahn lifts you up, and you reach the summit in a short time. The view stretches across the Kitzbühel Alps and the Wilder Kaiser and, in clear weather, as far as the glaciated peaks of the Hohe Tauern.
The Salvenkirchlein on the summit is a pilgrimage chapel dating from 1777, described as the highest-situated pilgrimage church in Austria. There are mountain huts and walking trails of various lengths, so the trip suits families who simply want to enjoy the views as well as those who want a half-day hike. You can also walk up from the valley.
Place: Hopfgarten im Brixental
Hopfgarten is about 25 minutes by car from Niederau, via Wörgl and the Brixental. Parking is available at the valley station. The lift runs in summer, generally from mid-May to late October (2026: 14 May to 26 October).
Always check times, prices and opening dates with the provider beforehand; they can change.
