Day trip to Seefeld

Olympic village on a plateau: walking, shopping and the Rosshütte

Seefeld sits on a sunny plateau at around 1,200 metres, between the Wetterstein and Karwendel ranges. In 1964 and 1976 the village hosted the Nordic events of the Innsbruck Winter Olympics and it remains strongly focused on outdoor sport.

In summer you can walk and cycle there and stroll through the village centre with its shops and terraces. The Rosshütte lifts consist of a funicular and two connecting lifts up to about 2,000 m; at the top you can follow panorama walks. At the Rosshütte there is an exhibition on winter sport and the 1964 and 1976 Olympic Games. Children have a large mining-themed adventure playground there. The village itself is free to visit. A pleasant half day or more, about 1 hour 10 minutes from Niederau.
