Kräuterwelt Thierseetal herb garden

Herb garden at Hinterthiersee with guided tours on medicinal plants

The Kräuterwelt Thierseetal is a herb garden at the edge of the forest in Hinterthiersee. The garden belongs to phytotherapist Christiane Kirchmair and contains more than 120 kinds of herbs. It is a quiet spot where you can see, smell and learn how plants are used.

You can explore the garden on your own or join a guided tour; these run on fixed afternoons and explain how plants work and are used. The garden is usually open in the daytime, Monday to Saturday. In winter there are sometimes separate gatherings, for example about the old custom of smoking with local plants. A visit takes roughly one to two hours and suits a quiet day in the Thierseetal, for example combined with a walk or a visit to the Thiersee. It is about 45 minutes by car from Niederau.
