Gaistal near Leutasch

A quiet high valley with meadows and a clear stream

The Gaistal lies near Leutasch on the Seefeld plateau, on the south side of the Wetterstein range. The Leutascher Ache flows through the valley. It is one of the best-known hiking areas on the plateau, with comfortable paths to several alms such as the Gaistalalm, Hämmermoosalm and Tillfussalm.

A popular family route is the three-alm loop from the Salzbach car park: about 10 km, 3 to 3.5 hours and about 290 metres of climbing. Distances are fairly short and there is plenty to see, which suits children well. Maps and tips are available from the Leutasch tourist office.
