Pay-and-play short course below the Patscherkofel
Olympia Golf in Igls is a short nine-hole course at the foot of the Patscherkofel, just outside Innsbruck. According to the Tyrol tourist board it is pay-and-play: no membership needed, but a verifiable handicap up to -54 is required. Seven holes are par 3 and two are par 4, adding up to par 58 and about 2,800 m.
The short holes call mostly for accurate iron play, and plenty of water and well-protected greens keep it interesting. There are a driving range, putting, pitching and chipping greens, a practice bunker, a clubhouse with restaurant and a golf school with PGA professionals. It is not meant for a long day's programme but for a round of about an hour and a half. The season runs roughly from March to November.
