By narrow-gauge steam train from Jenbach to Mayrhofen
The Zillertalbahn is a narrow-gauge line from Jenbach in the Inn valley to Mayrhofen in the Zillertal. The route is about 33 kilometres long and runs through villages and meadows alongside the Ziller river. The steam journey takes about an hour and a half each way.
The steam train only runs on certain days, roughly from early May to early October (in May mainly at weekends); in winter the regular trains run. The steam train has a buffet car, an open carriage and a children's carriage. Families can get off en route, for example in Mayrhofen for a walk or a meal. Check the timetable on the official site beforehand.
