Walking around the Pillersee

Quiet routes in the Pillerseetal below the Loferer Steinberge

The Pillerseetal lies in the Kitzbühel Alps, close to the Salzburg border, around St. Ulrich am Pillersee, St. Jakob in Haus and Fieberbrunn. The Pillersee is a mountain lake a little over 1.5 km long, with the limestone walls of the Loferer Steinberge as a backdrop.

A well-known easy outing is the Pillerseerunde, a loop of about 9 km (roughly 2.5 hours) around the lake. Longer routes lead up to alpine pastures and alms; the region has around 400 km of walking routes in total. You can pick up a map and tips at the tourist office in the valley.
