Barmsee near Mittenwald

Quiet Bavarian mountain lake with a circular walk and swimming

The Barmsee lies just over the border in Bavaria, near Krün and Mittenwald, with the Soiern group as a backdrop. A marked circular path (no. 405) leads down to the shore in switchbacks and then along reeds, meadows and woodland to the large bathing area with fine views of the Soiern. It is an easy walk that is also doable with children.

From the car park on the B2 near Krün it takes about 30 to 40 minutes to walk to the bathing area. You can also reach the lake by cycle path from Krün or Wallgau. A quiet outing if you fancy a change from Tyrol.
