Zillertalbahn steam train

The Zillertalbahn is a narrow-gauge railway that runs 32 kilometres through the Zillertal valley from Jenbach to Mayrhofen. In summer a steam train runs on selected days at a leisurely speed of about 35 km/h. The journey takes around an hour and a half.

The steam train runs roughly from early May to early October, but not daily: mostly at weekends in spring, on selected weekdays in summer and more often in September. Running days differ from year to year, so check them beforehand. At the end of the line you have time in Mayrhofen for a stroll or a coffee before the train returns.
