A cruise between the Karwendel and Rofan mountains
Boats have sailed on Lake Achensee, Tyrol’s largest lake, since 1887. The service was founded by Abbot Albert Wildauer of Fiecht Abbey, and the first vessel was the steamship St. Josef. The emerald-green water lies between the steep Karwendel and Rofan mountains.
The regular service runs roughly from early May to late October, with landing stages such as Seespitz, Pertisau and Scholastika in Achenkirch. You can take a round trip or hop off along the way, for example for a walk along the shore or a visit to the Gaisalm, which can only be reached on foot or by boat. At Seespitz the Achenseebahn connects.
Place: Jenbach
From Niederau it is about 55 minutes by car to Lake Achensee, via the A12 and Jenbach. At Seespitz (Maurach) the Achenseebahn connects with the landing stage. Check timetable and fares beforehand.
Always check times, prices and opening dates with the provider beforehand; they can change.
