By cable car into the Rofan mountains above Lake Achensee
The Rofanseilbahn starts in Maurach on Lake Achensee and takes you up into the Rofan mountains, close to the Erfurter Hütte at more than 1,800 metres. Many walking routes start at the top station; the network is around 150 kilometres long, from gentle panoramic walks to demanding mountain tours.
For children and adventurous adults there is the AIRROFAN, an eagle-shaped flying device that reaches about 80 km/h and glides more than 200 metres below the Gschöllkopf (2,040 m). At the Erfurter Hütte you can take a break with regional dishes. In winter the area is also a ski area. The views stretch over the lake and the mountains.

Practical
From Niederau, Maurach is about 55 minutes by car via the A12, exit Jenbach/Achensee. You can also take the Achenseebahn to Seespitz and walk or take a bus. Check fares beforehand.
