Patscherkofelbahn, Igls

By gondola from Igls up the Olympic mountain above Innsbruck

The Patscherkofelbahn is a modern gondola that runs from Igls, a village on the edge of Innsbruck, up the Patscherkofel. The top station is at over 1,900 m; the summit itself is 2,246 m. In summer it operates from spring until autumn for walkers and families.

Up top you can start the Zirbenweg, a quiet panoramic route through old stone-pine forest towards the Glungezer. For children there is a quiz walk with the mascot Kofele, and mountain huts invite you to take a break. The ride is short and the paths are easy to follow, which makes this a good half-day, often combined with a visit to Innsbruck.
