Rafting on the Ötztaler Ache

Whitewater rafting for experienced paddlers in the Ötztal

The Ötztaler Ache is regarded as one of the most demanding rafting rivers in Europe. The stretch near Sautens, at the entrance to the Ötztal, is about 14 km long and has class IV to V rapids. That makes the trip better suited to sporty adults than to families with children.

Trips are run by specialist operators with a guide and take roughly half a day. A minimum age of about 16 is usual on this demanding route. If you want to go on the water with younger children, look at gentler trips on other rivers, such as the Imster Schlucht (Inn), where family tours exist from about 10 years.
