Picnic on the Markbachjoch

The Markbachjoch lies directly above Niederau. The Markbachjochbahn, an eight-seat gondola, takes you in summer from 835 m to 1,465 m in about 8 minutes. That makes it one of the easiest ways to reach the mountain from the village, including with children.
At the top, the Markbachjochalm has a playground and a petting zoo; the Norderbergalm lies on the way to the top station. About half an hour's walk from the top station there is a sculpture park by the storage pond. For a picnic, buy bread, cheese and fruit in the village beforehand, bring a blanket and find a spot with a view.
