Cycling through the Wildschönau valley

An easy valley ride from Niederau to Auffach

The Wildschönau has an easy valley route of about 30 kilometres, which takes roughly four hours by bike. From Niederau you follow the main road to Oberau, past the church. In Oberau you turn left towards Roggenboden and descend via the Schrattentalweg to Auffach; the end point at the head of the valley is the Schönangeralm.

The region rates the route as easy. For children who can ride well on their own it is a good introduction to the valley, and an e-bike helps less fit parents keep up. Bikes can be hired at, among others, the iBIKE BOX next to the open-air pool in Oberau (from early May) and at Sport Blachfelder. Ask for current maps.
