Kitzsteinhorn in summer
Glacier world and viewing platforms above 3,000 metres
The Kitzsteinhorn (3,203 m) rises above Kaprun, on the edge of the Hohe Tauern National Park. A cable car takes you to the top station at 3,029 metres, where the Gipfelwelt 3000 can be visited all year round.
In summer you can visit the Top of Salzburg and Nationalpark Gallery viewing platforms, the Cinema 3000 and an ice arena with snow slides and an ice bar. It is a full-day outing: be aware that it can be cold at this altitude even in midsummer. It is a long way from Niederau, so it suits a day when you deliberately want a high-mountain trip in the Hohe Tauern.
