The Wildschönau has around 260 working farms, and in several places you can see how farm life and cheesemaking work. At the end of the Wildschauer valley lies the Schaukäserei Schönangeralm, where the cheesemaker gives tours in summer and you can taste the cheese.
Near the alp there is a walking path, a playground and a brook for paddling, plus a restaurant. A fun extra for children is the Wildschönauer Bummelzug (little train) to the alp. Whether you can join in on other farms varies from farm to farm; ask Wildschönau Tourismus or your accommodation about current options and times.
