Anyone learning to ski in Niederau, or wanting to improve their technique, can choose from several ski schools in the valley. This page lists the schools that the Wildschönau tourist board names in its regional overview for Niederau and Oberau. It is not a complete list and not an advertisement: there are also ski schools in Auffach and in the neighbouring Alpbachtal.

What to look for when choosing
Book well in advance in high season, around Christmas and in the spring holidays, because groups fill up quickly. Ask which language the instructor speaks and how large the groups are, especially for children. A group lesson is often enough for beginners; a private lesson pays off if you want to progress quickly or if your child is nervous.
Also ask where the lesson starts and ends, how the lunch break is arranged and whether a helmet comes with the lesson or has to be rented separately. For children a helmet on the slope is strongly recommended.
Close to the slopes
In Niederau the ski area starts at the Markbachjoch gondola and at the lift on the Lanerköpfl. Guests at Hotel Wastlhof are right by the slope with the drag lift in front of the door and can practise their first metres there. You make arrangements with a ski school yourself.
