Accessible holiday in the Wildschönau

Arriving by train
ÖBB and Deutsche Bahn offer help for travellers with reduced mobility through their mobility service. After registering in advance, staff help with boarding, getting off and changing trains. Register well before departure.
Accommodation and restaurants
The tourist board names two barrier-free accommodations with an inspection report: Apparthotel Talhof and Hotel Sonnschein. Named as barrier-free restaurants are: Dorferwirt, Hotel Bergkristall, Restaurant Tirolerhof, Markbachjoch Alm, Norderbergalm, Restaurant Drachenherz and Restaurant Talhof.
Excursions
- Auenweg in Niederau: a family walk along a small stream with a playground halfway; it starts at the hiking board below the Markbachjoch gondola
- Drachental family park in Oberau: open all year; since July 2025 there is a swing that can be used with a wheelchair
- St Francis Path: a path of reflection between Niederau and Oberau with nine bronze stations by sculptor Hubert Flörl
- Wildschönau open-air pool between Oberau and Niederau: three pools, a sunbathing lawn and a playground
- Kundler Klamm: the gorge walk is easy and suitable for the whole family
- Schatzberg cable car in Auffach: maximum wheelchair width 80 cm, entrance at platform level, toilets at the bottom and top stations, a lift at the bottom station and a ramp at the top station
