Where to find old photos and postcards of Niederau and the Wildschönau.

Old photos show how Niederau changed from a remote farming valley into a winter sports village. This page collects where you can find them. We only show images from external archives when the licence allows it, with credit; otherwise you open them at the source, where the terms of use are also given.

Digital archive volare (Vorarlberg State Library)

Volare is the digital archive of the Vorarlberg State Library (Vorarlberger Landesbibliothek). If you search it for ‘Niederau’, the search results show, among other things, historic photographs from the Wildschönau, for example from the Risch-Lau collection. The terms differ per item: some photos carry an open licence, for others you must first accept the terms of use or no licence is stated. Read the credit and the licence for each photo before reusing an image. An example with an open licence is shown above.

Facebook group ‘Kufstein in alten Bildern’

In this group, members share old photos and postcards from Kufstein and the surrounding area, including Niederau and the Wildschönau. We use a few images from it on this site, with credit.
